At the end of June my Fiancee and I took a last minute trip to Nice and toured around the south coast of France taking in Cannes and Monaco on the way. It was cloudy and dull for the first few days and a big thanks to the French for having a rail strike and not telling anyone so that we all bought tickets on way into the station and wasted an age trying to get refunds.

I will admit there was some lovely coastline, and old town Nice has some gorgeous architecture and great nightlife. The town squares really came alive at night and the soft sunsets gave a real romantic feel to the whole area.
